Core Value: Creativity

He is the Creator God. We are made in His image to be creative, in many different forms, for His glory.

  • We believe that God is our Creator. He created the world. He created us.

Genesis 1 & 2

  • We believe that we have been made in His image and part of that means that we are creative too.

Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.

Psalm 139:13

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

  • We believe that there are many forms and expressions of creativity.

Examples of Creativity in the Bible:

    • Psalms – poems/songs
    • Exodus 31 – Bezalel was filled with the Holy Spirit to be creative

Exodus 31:1-2,3-5

Then the Lord said to Moses, “See I have chosen Bezalel…and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts – to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to  cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftmanship.”

    • Joshua 6 – God and Joshua’s creative strategy for invading Jericho
    • 1 Samuel 16 – David’s creativity as he played the harp for Saul was what freed Saul from demonic torment
    • 2 Samuel 6 – David danced
    • Jesus taught creative stories called parables
    • Jesus’ creative miracles – sometimes He used spit!

  • We believe that when we create together with God there is power to break the chains that hold people.

1 Samuel 16:23

Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.
